Au Revoir Lacroix ...bonjour la dépression

Sad news in Couture.

Today is a sad one for bankrupt fashion house Christian Lacroix. A French court has approved the restructuring plan submitted by the label's current owners, the Florida-based Falic group. The Ajman sheikh who was expected to buy the label for 100 million euros and transform it into a lifestyle brand beyond its most fabulous dreams (one that makes palaces) failed to submit financial guarantees on time. And now the fashion world is left to mourn what is hopefully only a temporary loss of Lacroix shows from the fashion calendar.

Under the Falic plan, the label's couture, ready-to-wear, and retail operations will close down. Only eleven employees of the 120 employed will stay on. Licensing deals will be used to pay off the label's debts. Deals remain for some menswear, wedding dresses, scarves, and perfume.

But it's anyone's guess as to when, or if, the 22-year-old label's heralded poufs and lace finery will return to the runways. Another very wealthy investor could still rescue the house negotiating directly with the Falic group.

Lacroix and his CEO had said weeks ago that despite the sheikh's paperwork delay, they felt confident in him and his plan, which they favored above all others. They are surely not the only ones disappointed this morning. Bailout fail.

P Diddy x HSN

So they other week i checked my email and i got my weekly dose of high fashion news... It said that our man Sean "P Diddy" Combs is going to be on HSN (home shopping network). gosh can anyone remember coming home and seeing your grandmother calling in for a necklace or bracelet she "wanted" .... i can proudly say that most of my jewelry is from HSN..lol

Last night at 11 p.m., P. Diddy made a poetic debut on the Home Shopping Network to sell his fragrances. A lady with Kate Gosselin hair and eye shadow so blue you'd think she colored her face with a highlighter sat on a couch with Diddy for a couple of hours to tell him and His People how wonderful he and the things he makes are. A very excited Beverly called in and told Diddy, perched on a shaggy fur throw, that she had been waiting for this moment. "I wanted to put on your MySpace page please come to HSN!" she told him. And it's a good thing he did, because not only is HSN now cool, officially, but his stuff sold out in just sixteen minutes. That's a total of 5,600 Diddy fragrance products, costing around $60 each, with extra flex-pricing available for HSN cardholders. (It's the flex-pricing that really gives this channel flavor.)

But the best part of the evening was surely when Diane called.
